Ahmed Ali Dahir, Somalia’s Attorney General, was fired after almost six years as a government legal adviser.
Villa Somalia announces the removal of Dahir and the appointment of a new Attorney General. Suleiman Mohamed Mohamud, who has served as a judge in the Supreme Court since December 2018, is the new prosecutor.
Mohamud was among the four judges appointed to the High Court in December 2018 by President Farmaajo. Villa Somalia said the sacking of Dahir was based on recommendations from Chief Justice Baashe Yusuf Ahmed.
